The authority, the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM), had been examining the conduct of DeepSeek, Mistral AI, and Scaleup Yazilim Hizmetleri Anonim Şirketi. The cases centered on concerns that their systems could produce misleading or incorrect outputs—commonly referred to as “AI hallucinations”—which might affect consumers, according to Reuters.

Per Reuters, the regulator determined that the companies’ proposed remedies were sufficient to resolve the issues. All three firms have now pledged to provide clearer communication to users about the limitations of their AI systems. This includes adding visible and ongoing disclaimers within their chatbot platforms, as well as more detailed explanations on their websites and apps about the risks of inaccurate responses.

DeepSeek, according to Reuters, has additionally committed to further investment in tools designed to limit such errors, while recognizing that the problem cannot be entirely eliminated with current technology.

The AGCM also highlighted changes involving Scaleup’s NOVA AI service. Per Reuters, the company agreed to clarify that the platform serves as a gateway to multiple chatbot systems rather than combining or processing their answers into a single, unified response.
