13), the company says those transactions jumped 26% during its fourth quarter to 49.4 billion pounds ($66.2 billion) and 11.3 million active customers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are making good progress on building the network for the world\u2019s money. Our infrastructure\u00a0makes cross-border transactions cheaper and faster and, in January, we became one of the first\u00a0payment institutions to be granted membership to Payments Canada, paving the way to direct\u00a0access there,\u201d Wise Co-founder and CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/kkaarmann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kristo K\u00e4\u00e4rmann<\/a> said in the update.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMore and more people are using Wise at home or abroad for their everyday spending, for paying bills, for savings and investments. That\u2019s why last month we formally launched our UK current account with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/banking\/2026\/wise-takes-on-uk-retail-banks-with-current-account\/\">physical branch concept<\/a>\u00a0on Oxford Street in London.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company introduced the current account late last month, framing it as a challenge to Great Britain\u2019s retail banking industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBanks haven\u2019t kept pace with what customers expect for their current account. People shouldn\u2019t need separate accounts for home and abroad,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uk.linkedin.com\/in\/nilanpeiris\">Nilan Peiris<\/a>, Wise\u2019s chief product officer, said in a news release at the time.<\/p><div id=\"pymnt-755942566\" class=\"pymnt-content pymnt-entity-placement\" style=\"margin-top: 50px;\"><p style=\"text-align:center\">Advertisement: Scroll to Continue<\/p><script async type=\"text\/javascript\" id=\"dianomi_context_script\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dianomi.com\/js\/contextfeed.js\"><\/script> \r\n<div class=\"dianomi_context\" data-dianomi-context-id=\"4329\"><\/div><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWith the Wise Current Account, we\u2019re giving customers a smarter way to manage their daily financial needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its Monday update, Wise also reported \u201ccontinued diversification of income\u201d through its Wise account, with customer holdings growing 37% to 29.4 billion pounds ($39 billion), and card and other revenue up 29% year over year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the number of Wise Business active customers climbed by 26% during the quarter to 572,000, with volumes up 35%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company says it is also on track to complete its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/stock-index\/2025\/wises-planned-move-to-us-listing-draws-ire-from-co-founder\/\">dual listing<\/a>, with the Nasdaq becoming its primary listing, on May 11.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe believe that the addition of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/cross-border-commerce\/2026\/wise-says-dual-listing-will-increase-profile-in-us-and-accelerate-global-growth\/\">primary US listing<\/a>\u00a0would bring a number of strategic and capital markets benefits to Wise and its owners, including greater visibility in the United States, the biggest market opportunity for our products today, and better access to the world\u2019s deepest and most liquid capital market,\u201d the update added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, research by PYMNTS Intelligence has found that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/study\/global-money-movement-united-states\/\">14% of American consumers<\/a>\u00a0had made a cross-border payment in the prior 12 months \u2014 and close to two-thirds of those consumers used digital wallets to do so.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn this environment,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/cross-border-commerce\/cross-border-payments\/2026\/global-payments-are-fast-why-is-data-slowing-everything-down\/\">competitive advantage<\/a>\u00a0is shifting,\u201d PYMNTS wrote recently. \u201cIt is no longer defined by ownership of a specific payment rail, but by the ability to orchestrate transactions across multiple systems by routing value seamlessly while managing liquidity, compliance and user experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>\r\n\twindow.pymntsAllowedArticleCount = 2;\r\n\twindow.pymntsPostID = 3646619;\r\n<\/script>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.K. FinTech\u00a0Wise\u00a0is reporting a surge in cross-border transactions ahead of its Nasdaq listing.
