\u201cperps,\u201d make up more than 70% of centralized crypto\u00a0exchanges\u2019\u00a0volume, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>It was reported last week that prediction markets Kalshi and Polymarket plan to compete in this area, where the current players include\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/robinhood.com\/us\/en\/?wpsrc=Organic+Search&amp;wpsn=www.google.com\">Robinhood<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinbase.com\/\">Coinbase<\/a>, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts told CNBC that the companies\u2019 perpetual future offerings are most likely to appeal to the prediction markets\u2019 existing customers, rather than draw users away from other platforms, and are\u00a0probably meant\u00a0to retain customers as other platforms expand their own prediction markets offerings.<\/p>\n<p>The Information reported Tuesday (April 21) that Kalshi plans to add\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/bitcoin-tracker\/2026\/prediction-market-kalshi-targets-crypto-perpetuals\/\">perpetual futures<\/a>\u00a0on bitcoin and other crypto tokens in the United States and may later add perpetuals based on other asset classes.<\/p>\n<p>Kalshi\u2019s licenses from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cftc.gov\/\">Commodity Futures Trading Commission<\/a>\u00a0(CFTC) position the company to offer crypto perpetuals if the CFTC allows those products in the U.S., the report said.<\/p><div id=\"pymnt-2132748683\" class=\"pymnt-content CFTC\u00a0Chairman\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cftc.gov\/About\/Commissioners\/MichaelSelig\/index.htm#full-page-bio\">Michael S. Selig<\/a>\u00a0said the CFTC plans to allow\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/cryptocurrency\/2026\/cftc-prepares-to-allow-perpetual-crypto-futures-within-weeks\/\">perpetual futures<\/a>\u00a0contracts for cryptocurrencies to help the U.S. recapture liquidity that has moved to platforms in Asia,\u00a0Europe\u00a0and the Bahamas.<\/p>\n<p>Selig said in a March 3\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/chairmanselig\/status\/2028924075456729146?s=43&amp;t=HX_ju0vgQxqA9hav5Ebegg\">post<\/a>\u00a0on X: \u201cThe Biden administration drove crypto asset firms and liquidity offshore, including the perpetual futures markets.\u00a0We\u2019ve\u00a0had perpetual futures in crypto assets for\u00a0a very long\u00a0time, but\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0developed offshore. We\u2019ve got to bring perpetual futures back to the US and are working towards getting them here soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was reported March 7 that both Kalshi and Polymarket are in discussions with investors about raising funds and are targeting the same\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/investment-tracker\/2026\/polymarket-and-kalshi-each-targeting-20-billion-valuations\/\">valuation<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0$20 billion. The two companies were both valued at half that figure in late 2025.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time,\u00a0the companies\u00a0have faced increased scrutiny.
